Genesis 6:5 Adonai saw that the people on earth were very wicked, that all the imaginings of their hearts were always of evil only. 6 Adonai regretted that he had made humankind on the earth; it grieved his heart. 7 Adonai said, “I will wipe out humankind, whom I have created, from the whole earth; and not only human beings, but animals, creeping things and birds in the air; for I regret that I ever made them.” 8 But Noach found grace in the sight of Adonai.

The Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) led me to this passage again to focus on the last verse. Noach (Noah) found grace in the sight of the Most High. I asked, “What set him apart from all the rest?” The Spirit shared so many details about how “Noah did the opposite of those around him.” The others in his day were wicked and doing everything their wicked hearts could imagine. Noah sought the counsel of the LORD and obeyed G-d. I heard, “Can the Most High trust each of us to be like Noah?”
When the Most High speaks His plan for us no matter how “different it may sound” or “unprepared we may feel”, do we trust the Most High to lead, give step-by-step instructions and without knowing the whole plan, obey Him until the end? That is what Noah did. He did not have understanding or context as to why He was to build an ark. All he had was the voice of G-d who gave the specifications for the ark, what to bring on the ark, and that the Most High would “bring the flood of water over the earth” (cf. Genesis 6:13-22). Biblically, it is not clear if they had ever experienced rain like it came to flood earth. Genesis 2:4-6 tells us:
“4 Here is the history of the heavens and the earth when they were created. On the day when Adonai, G-d, made earth and heaven, 5 there was as yet no wild bush on the earth, and no wild plant had as yet sprung up; for Adonai, G-d, had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no one to cultivate the ground. 6 Rather, a mist went up from the earth which watered the entire surface of the ground.”
We know Cain (Kayin) planted crops and harvested from the ground, but “rain falling” was not mentioned until Genesis 7. Yet, without knowing how it was going to all enfold, Genesis 6:22 says, “This is what Noach did; he did all that G-d ordered him to do.” He did not know when the rain would start, how to get the animals to the ark or how to get them in the ark, how much food to gather, and how long it would be, yet Noah obeyed G-d. Wow! What faith and trust. O to be like Noach. He was the epitome of trust and walking by faith and not by sight, hence why we find him in the “Hall of Faith” in Hebrews 11:7.
As the Spirit shared last week, we are living in times much like those of Noah, and the Most High is looking for His trusting servants to hear and obey. He wants to “find” great faith like his servant Noah. Why is this type of faith and trust so important you may ask? Because without it, you cannot please the Most High. Hebrews 11:6 attests to this fact, “ And without trusting, it is impossible to be well pleasing to G-d, because whoever approaches Him must trust that He does exist and that He becomes a Rewarder to those who seek Him out.”
My prayer today for us Family is that we all in this season “find grace in the sight of the Most High.”
If you are like me when the Most High speaks assignments to me like He has lately, several in one prayer session, I have “rapid fire” questions. I read Genesis 6 again this morning and instantly repented. Lord, forgive me for my lack of faith and trust in you, and help me to be blameless, upright, trusting, and obedient like your servant, Noah. Amein.
Shema Family, hear and obey the voice of G-d. He is calling us to great assignments for the Kingdom!
