Is It Faith or Evidence?

Hebrews 11:1 KJV states, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

A dire situation arose. During my prayer time, I believed I heard it was already done. I actually prayed several times about the same situation and got the same message each time, but I failed to praise the Most High for the answer. I even prayed again, and then no response, just silence. It was as if I had forgotten all G-d had done for me in other situations. I actually prayed again, and that next morning at 4:21 a.m., the loving Father answered, "Do you have faith or evidence?"

Instantly, I was sad and repentant because I knew what that meant. First and foremost, I had failed to give praise and worship to Adonai for being God, my All. Second, I was not walking as a godly daughter of the Most High who believed what was said the first time I asked. Psalm 29:1-2 says, 'Give Adonai His Due...' I wanted to see evidence before I gave the honor that is due to the Most High.

Yet, the very essence of faith is being confident and trusting the Word that the Most High has spoken before seeing anything manifest. Yes, I believe we can ask for answers and even "fleece," like Gideon, as part of our intimate relationship with G-d. He loves us and wants us to come to Him. He also wants us to grow stronger in our faith and trust, knowing He is Our Shepherd and Our Provider, and we lack nothing, and there is nothing too hard for G-d (cf. Psalm 23:1, Jeremiah 32:17, 27). It is in these extremely serious and urgent trials that we can exercise our faith and show others how to trust in the power and strength of the Most High to bring us through.

After that day, I changed my posture and my prayer approach. I stopped asking for evidence, and my prayers regarding that situation have become thanksgiving sessions. I am thanking Him for what the Most High has spoken, showing gratitude for what is being done, and the ability to trust Him and stand on His Word versus what it looks like in the natural.

Four months later, the situation has not fully resolved, but I am expecting the full completion of what Holy Spirit said!

If you find yourself in a situation where it is taking a long time for the answer to come, or you start to doubt what you heard, the Most High may be increasing your faith. Please know His desire is for His children to grow stronger in faith and trust. His promises are true!

Prayer

Lord, help me to trust you, and thank you for teaching me to give You all the honor due. Thank you for loving me and increasing my faith. I fully expect what you have promised to manifest, even though I do not have any evidence in the natural. And I give you all the glory, honor, and praise you are due! Amen.
