Motivation Morsel - August 12, 2026

Psalm 32:⁸ “I will instruct and teach you in this way that you are to go; I will give you counsel; my eyes will be watching you.”

⁹ Don’t be like a horse or mule that has no understanding, that has to be curbed with bit and bridle, or else it won’t come near you.

¹⁰ Many are the torments of the wicked, but grace surrounds those who trust in Adonai.

¹¹ Be glad in Adonai; rejoice, you righteous! Shout for joy, all you upright in heart!

Psalm 32 starts out vv. 1-7 as a lament of someone that has been keeping silent about their sin and hiding their mistakes, and then the flood of joy of being forgiven once the sin has been acknowledged and the guilt is no longer concealed.

Our blog post picks up at verse 8 where the Most High speaks as a loving Father who tells His child, “I will instruct and teach you in this way that you are to go; I will give you counsel;

my eyes will be watching you.”

I find so much solace in this verse especially when I am facing times of uncertainty or difficult choices. I imagine the Father saying to me, “Karen, I know you do not know what choice to make next, but I AM is watching, I care and as your Heavenly Father, I won’t leave you guessing which way to go. I will guide you to and through your next step as I have done so many times before. I am and will always be right here watching you. I will never leave you.”

The Most High loves us, and He offers to each of us, His love, His guidance and His everlasting watchful care to His children, especially those who are newly forgiven of a sin. Be clear, the Most High wants us to confess our sins and He will cleanse us of all unrighteousness that interrupts our intimate fellowship and relationship with Him (cf. 1 John 1:9). Often when we are uncertain or trying to make a difficult choice, we get ahead of G-d, or try to help Him or go around the place we are in, and realize we have sinned and need to repent and wait for guidance and instruction from the Most High to move forward (sometimes with an even bigger situation after the mistakes). Verse 8 is G-d’s loving answer to a forgiven child whose heart and soul has shifted from guilt and wandering to secure direction back in the arms of protection and guidance of a loving G-d.

Verse 9 helps us to realize the danger of being like a stubborn horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to move. G-d wants a relationship so close with us that we do not need harsh correction; a gentle nudge in the right direction is all we need to respond to His leading and guidance. Hebrews 12 lets us know if the chastening and discipline is needed, He will provide it, because He loves us and wants us to get it right. Yet, His hope is that a gentle touch will be all that is needed.
